Transforming a greenfield site into a premier golf destination came with its fair share of complexity.

The natural site needed to be assessed and adapted to support elite-level turf performance while maintaining the look and feel of a classic Hunter Valley landscape.

With a quarter-century of planning behind it, expectations were high! The project required a precise approach to natural turf design, careful consideration of sand and soil profiles, and collaboration across multiple stakeholders to ensure that every detail aligned with the broader vision.

SPORTENG was engaged to provide a comprehensive agronomy specification that would set the course up for long-term success.

Led by our Field of Play Consultant Jonathan Douglas, our work involved detailed soil analysis to determine the best path forward for healthy, resilient turf. We selected turf species and sand compositions that would suit the local climate while also delivering on playability and durability. We also supported the design of the bunkers, ensuring they complemented the natural landscape while meeting the technical demands of the course.

Throughout the process, we remained closely involved in project management meetings, helping to guide decisions and maintain alignment with the overall goals.

The official launch of Lovedale Farm Golf Course marked a proud moment for all involved, and a major milestone for the Hunter Valley. The course is well on its way to becoming a standout attraction for the region!
