Peninsula Grammar, nestled on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula, set out to transform its sporting facilities with a bold vision—to create a modern athletics and soccer precinct that could support both everyday school activities and high-level performance.
To bring this to life, the school partnered with SPORTENG for expert guidance through feasibility, design, and delivery.
While Peninsula Grammar already had athletics track and soccer field in place, the existing facilities no longer met the evolving needs of the school’s sports program.
The challenge was to elevate these spaces into a cohesive, high-performance precinct that could support daily school use, competitive events, and long-term durability.
The goal was to deliver a next-level facility—one that met World Athletics and FIFA standards—within the constraints of the existing site. Integrating multiple sports into a shared footprint, while improving drainage, playability, and safety, required a smart and highly tailored design approach.
The project journey began in earnest in 2023, although SPORTENG had been supporting the school for years with condition assessments and the development of a broader sports master plan. Once the decision was made to redevelop the athletics precinct, SPORTENG was engaged to deliver a comprehensive solution—from feasibility through to superintendency.
This included engaging survey and geotechnical consultants for the site investigation phase, producing detailed design drawings and technical specifications to take the project through tender, and ultimately, overseeing delivery on site. The new facility features a world-class synthetic sandwich-profile athletics track, compliant with World Athletics standards, along with line markings to suit competitive use. At its centre sits a FIFA-certified synthetic soccer pitch built on a vertically draining system, providing consistent playability regardless of weather conditions.
Working alongside trusted partners such as Polytan, the execution met the high-performance standards envisioned from the outset. As superintendent, SPORTENG played a key role in quality assurance—balancing the expectations of both client and contractor, and ensuring the project ran smoothly from design through to final delivery.
Peninsula Grammar now boasts a premium multi-sport precinct that has already become a source of pride and inspiration for the school community. The facility supports daily PE classes, inter-school competitions, and high-performance training, without the need to transport students off-site. Just as importantly, it positions the school as a destination for families who value holistic education and quality sporting infrastructure.
According to the school, the project represents more than just new turf and track lanes—it’s about giving every student the chance to find their passion. For some, that might be on stage; for others, it’s in sport. Now, they have the facilities to discover that passion at the highest possible level. Looking ahead, the hope is that the track becomes a launching pad for future Olympians and elite athletes. For now, the excitement is already building as students look out over the new fields, ready to take their first steps into a legacy of excellence.
